Membranous nephropathy is a kidney disease characterized by inflammation of the structures inside the kidney that help filter wastes and fluids. When the glomerular basement membrane becomes thickened, it does not work normally, allowing large amounts of protein to be lost in the urine.

2021-04-02 · Membranous nephropathy is caused by the thickening of a part of the glomerular basement membrane. The glomerular basement membrane is a part of the kidneys that helps filter waste and extra fluid from the blood. The exact reason for this thickening is not known. The thickened glomerular membrane does not work normally.

. Membranous glomerulonephritis is a slowly progressive disease of the kidney affecting mostly patients between ages of 30 and 50 years, usually Caucasian men in older than 40. It is the second most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults (33% of cases), with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis being the most common 38) . Membranous Glomerulonephritis Glen S. Markowitz Vivette D. D'Agati BACKGROUND Definition Membranous glomerulonephritis (MGN) is a pathologic diagnosis defined by the presence of subepithelial immune deposits that induce a spectrum of changes in the glomerular basement membrane (GBM).

These findings indicated membranous glomerulonephritis (MGN). In addition, focal segmental sclerosis and interstitial lymphocytic infiltration were observed in the renal biopsy specimen. In CLL patients nephrotic syndrome occurs rarely. Even if the complication occurs, MGN is not frequent.
